Drawing lessons learnt from Asian regional studies, this article aims discuss critically selected theoretical tools used study repression. It scrutinizes four that delve analytically into The focus the most influential approaches recent years gained highest impact development studies contentious politics. first typology applies differentiate between forms mainly by non-state actors. second approach treats as an explaining variable, text focuses consequences third model studying hard during protests.
